Avelora Life provides respectful, person-centred, non-medical support for adults with developmental disabilities across Alberta. Services are shaped around the person's goals, choices, routines, communication, relationships, culture, comfort, and approved service arrangement.

Support for everyday life and community inclusion

PDD-related support can help a person participate in daily life with greater confidence and consistency. Avelora begins with what matters to the person rather than applying a standard list of tasks.

What support may include

Daily routines and household organization; errands, shopping, and appointment accompaniment; community activities and social connection; transit practice and familiar-route support; meal preparation and everyday skill-building; and confidence, choice, and independence in ordinary activities.

How service planning works

The person, family, guardian, or support team shares goals and current needs. Avelora confirms fit, authorized services, schedule, location, staffing, and risks. Clear expectations and a person-centred support approach are agreed before service starts.

Funding and availability

Avelora Life can discuss PDD and Family Managed Services arrangements, including direct billing where authorized and operational requirements are met. Program eligibility and funding decisions remain with the applicable Alberta program. Private-pay support may also be discussed.

What it means

Support for everyday life and community inclusion

PDD-related support can help a person take part in daily life with more confidence and consistency. We begin with what matters to the person, not with a standard list of tasks, and we plan around their goals, their relationships and the way they communicate.

That means listening to the person, and to the family, guardian or support team they choose to involve. Together we agree what good support looks like, and how we will know it is working.

What support can include

Support that follows the person’s goals

Not every person wants the same things. These are the areas we most often discuss.

Daily routines and household organization

Keeping a home and a week running smoothly, in the way the person prefers.

Errands, shopping and appointments

Company and practical help with the things that fill a week, and accompaniment to appointments.

Community activities and connection

Time with others, hobbies and places the person enjoys, to build relationships and belonging.

Transit practice and familiar routes

Building confidence on routes the person wants to travel on their own, step by step.

Meals and everyday skill-building

Planning and preparing food, and learning skills at the person’s pace.

Choice and independence

Opportunities to decide, try and do more in ordinary activities.

Examples

What support can look like in a week

Setting up the weekLooking at the calendar together, so the person knows what is coming and feels ready.
A trip to the community centreAn activity the person chose, with support to get there and join in.
Cooking a favourite mealChoosing, shopping for and preparing a meal, with as much help as is wanted.
A practice routeTravelling a bus or train route again, until the person feels at ease on their own.

How we work

Working with the person and the people around them

Led by the person

Their goals, choices and communication come first. Support adapts to them, not the other way around.

With family and guardians

Family, guardians and support teams can be involved, with the person’s consent and the appropriate authority.

Getting started

Three simple steps

You do not need everything figured out before you reach out.

1

Share goals and current needs

The person, family, guardian or support team talks through goals, routines and what is working now.

2

We confirm the fit

Authorized services, schedule, location, staffing and any risks are all reviewed with you.

3

Agree the approach

Clear expectations and a person-centred support approach are agreed before service starts.

Scope

Clear about who decides what

Respect for the person includes being honest about our role.

Avelora does not decide eligibility

Eligibility and funding decisions are made through the applicable Alberta program. We provide non-medical support within the arrangement that is in place.

Non-medical by design

Support does not replace clinical services, medical care or emergency response. In an emergency, call 911.

Availability is confirmed by community, schedule, staffing and support needs before anything begins.
